- The Education WG aims to develop the ACE position for the upcoming evaluation and revision of the PQD. In particular, it aims to

- Promote the internationally established standard (5 years study plus two years practical experience) as the minimum standard of access to the architectural profession in Europe.
- Address mixed-qualification issues.
- Address questions relating to traineeship / Professional Practical Experience (PPE).
- Promote and strengthen lifelong learning (CPD) for architects across Europe, advocating for CPD as a professional competence requirement and deontological duty.
- Advance upskilling in key areas including sustainability, digital tools, resilience, and financial literacy.
- Enhance understanding and adoption of CPD among Member Organisations and EU Member States, and advocate for mandatory systems and harmonisation.
- Collaborate with Schools and the EAAE.

- Practical Professional Experience (PPE) — Comparing durations and structures across Member States to inform recommendations for future PQD reviews, building on standards that often exceed EU minimums.
- Strengthening CPD — Enhancing understanding, support, and adoption among Member Organisations and EU States; advocating mandatory systems, harmonisation, and access to quality training.
- Upskilling Alignment — Linking CPD to EU priorities (e.g., sustainable energy skills via the ARISE project) for lifelong competence in emerging areas, including financial literacy and the assessment of the cost of architectural production.
- By monitoring transposition, sharing best practices, and preparing for PQD revisions, the WG ensures architects remain competent, competitive, and capable of contributing to Europe’s resilient, inclusive built environment.
