Eu Mies Awards Day

The EUmies Awards Days 2026 are a two-day programme of public events that bring together the winners and finalists of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards, alongside their clients, collaborators and invited guests. Taking place in Barcelona on 11 and 12 May, these days transform the awards ceremony of the Prize into a space for exchange, reflection and celebration around contemporary architectural practice.

Curated by the Barcelona-based collective Post Like, the programme focuses on the theme of reuse as a critical lens through which to understand current transformations in architecture. Through a series of conversations, panels and encounters, the invited participants will share their experiences, processes and positions, addressing how architecture engages with existing conditions, resources and social contexts.

The discussions will be moderated by contributors connected to different programmes and networks in which the Fundació Mies van der Rohe is involved, including LINA, HouseEurope! and local agents, fostering a dialogue that connects European perspectives with local realities.

The EUmies Awards Days also include the opening of the exhibitions EUmies Awards 2026 und What is this? Exhibiting the collection of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, offering a comprehensive overview of the works, ideas and narratives shaping this edition of the Prize and also the collection built since 1986.

Alongside the talks and exhibitions, the programme extends into the city through visits and informal encounters, as well as moments of celebration. The EUmies Awards 2026 Granting Ceremony at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion and the closing celebration mark the culmination of these days, reinforcing the collective dimension of architecture and its cultural significance.

The EUmies Awards Days are conceived as an open platform to engage with architecture beyond the Prize, inviting professionals, students and the public to participate in a shared reflection on the present and future of the built environment.
