Mål og omfang av WG
The WG focuses on communicating the architect’s view on forthcoming EU policy and legislation in the areas of building performance, circular economy, climate change-related issues, and informing the profession of related opportunities and best practices. It aims to:
Contribute to the creation of EU policies that enable:
- high quality architecture that demonstrates outstanding whole life carbon performance over its life span – as per Davos Baukultur Quality System, NEB and the EU Level(s) criteria
- Accelerate the renovation of the existing building stock to reduce operational energy consumption by up to 50%.
- the collection and disclosure of data relating to building performance to inform building and stock-level benchmarks
- greater access to materials and construction techniques that minimize embodied carbon and demonstrate the circular use of resources
- the scaling up of low-emission retrofits, including sustainable finance and insurance mechanisms (> linkage with Area 2 / Practice committee)
Working with member organisations to:
- embed Davos Baukultur Quality System, NEB and EU Level(s) criteria in the recognition of excellence as well as in continuous architectural education (> linkage with Area 1 / PQD-PPE WG)
- Collect best practices at the building and policy level, analysing them in detail, to be replicable and transferred to other MS,
- communicate success through case studies at the building and policy level that inspires and motivates governments, institutions and architects
- Adapt the architects’ scope of works to include building performance evaluations across all work stages (> linkage with Area 2 / Practice committee)
- highlight barriers and instigate research and innovation to overcome these
- extend the reach of our campaigns to the Council of the EU
Work with other NGOs to:
- Develop and amplify our key messages to the Commission and MEPs to achieve legislative change.
