Founded in 2000, *Les Journées de l’architecture | Die Architekturtage* has become the largest cross-border architecture festival in Europe dedicated to the general public. Every autumn, the MEA (Maison Européenne de l’Architecture) shines a spotlight on architecture in the Upper Rhine region.

**“Inhabiting the Upper Rhine: 2000–2025–2050” – from October 1 to 26, 2025**

Celebrating an anniversary—the 25 years of the Architecture Days in 2025—is above all about sharing joy: the joy of having initiated and nurtured a cross-border and European architecture festival that bridges Germany, France, and Switzerland.

To celebrate this anniversary is also to look back on the past 25 years, to measure their span, their changes, and their directions through the stories told by posters, themes, and programs. While the early editions of the Architecture Days explored the fundamental questions of what architecture is, more recent editions have adapted to shifts prompted by the realization that progress is not continuous. In this sense, we continue to commit ourselves to a line of thought rooted in resilience and repair, resonating with the living world.

So, what can we see, and how can we envision this new 25th-anniversary edition of the Architecture Days in the Upper Rhine? What are the pressing issues in this Rhine region, calling for frugal yet high-quality architecture? How can the younger generation seize current developments to rethink the act of building and create a sustainable environment? Must we build? How should we build, and with what materials do we want to shape our surroundings? The younger generation must—and will—find the answers.
