The Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) is proud to join a new cross-sector coalition — Buy Better to Build Better (BBBB) — launched today at the European Parliament.
This coalition brings together more than 30 stakeholders from across the construction value chain, including industry, business associations, public authorities, og civil society. Its aim is to make green public procurement (GPP) the standard approach in Europe’s construction sector.
A 2030 vision for green public procurement
Buy Better to Build Better (BBBB) believes that Europe and its 250,000+ public authorities can buy better to build better, aligning decarbonisation and competitiveness under one overarching industrial strategy.
The coalition unites 30+ forward-thinking stakeholders from across the construction value chain, civil society, and public authorities, under a shared commitment to elevate public procurement as a core lever for driving demand for innovative solutions, while maintaining European industry at the forefront of technological progress. Here is how, according to the BBBB Manifesto:
- Continued support for public authorities in implementing GPP effectively.
- A stronger internal market through coherent and horizontal procurement rules beyond lowest price.
- Simpler procurement with harmonised, sector-specific GPP criteria to create demand for low-carbon and circular construction solutions.
- Continued support for public authorities in implementing GPP effectively.
As part of this initiative, ACE reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable architecture, aligning with EU climate goals and the principles of the Nytt europeisk Bauhaus.
