This week marked a series of important events for the Architects’ Council of Europe, both in Brussels and online: the ACE Executive Board Meeting, FICO and the General Assembly.
Kicking off the General Assembly on Friday 12 September, ACE President Carl Bäckstrand drew a strong connection between Ursula von der Leyen’s State of the Union speech and the core issues ACE continues to champion — reaffirming our collective focus on:
🏠 Housing | 🌱 Sustainability | ⚡ Energy | 🤝 Social Cohesion
Today’s agenda brought together representatives from across #Europe to discuss key priorities:
👉 Access to the profession: qualifications, traineeships, #CPD, Single Market
👉 Practice of the profession: public procurement, innovation, BIM
👉 Sustainable architecture / #Baukultur: off-site construction, housing, heritage
👉 #NEB – New European Bauhaus: embedding NEB into ACE’s work and EU projects
These ongoing dialogues are essential to ensuring that architecture plays a meaningful role in shaping Europe’s future — addressing societal challenges through innovation, policy, and collaboration.
👏 A sincere thank you to all ACE Executive Board members and participants for your valuable contributions and continued commitment to our shared mission.
