Short description 

HeriTACE is an EU-funded project that delivers holistic solutions for authorities and architects to envision and govern a sustainable energy future for heritage townhouses in historical neighbourhoods, thus putting the EU Green Deal and New European Bauhaus into practice. The main objective of the HeriTACE project is to produce innovative technical solutions integrated into a holistic and multi-scale renovation approach. During the project, the consortium involved a transdisciplinary team of research institutes, authorities, SMEs, and industry experts experienced in design, technology, and policymaking in the domains of conservation, buildings, and energy, which will further increase the availability of high-quality solutions for the building conservation sector and open new business opportunities.

The Architects´ Council of Europe’s involvement 

The Architects’ Council of Europe leads on Communication and Dissemination activities. It collaborates with related projects, networks and initiatives to maximise dissemination and communication activities with a view to achieving effective promotion of both the project, its progress and results, as well as reaching the identified project target groups. 

Expected project results 

The project’s relevant results are: the guidelines for designers and architects addressing key steps in the renovation process of historical townhouses following the results of HeriTACE project; the holistic and multi-dimensional assessment model developed to identify the best energy retrofitting solutions for historic buildings and neighborhoods, aiming to streamline decision-making among conservation authorities, building owners and designers the integrated and balanced design guidelines for holistic and optimal deep renovation of historic townhouses; and the technical guidelines for building envelope solutions.
