According to regulations a licensed architect must be insured against liability for damage (professional liability insurance).
The Serbian Chamber of Engineers provides its members, licensed architects and engineers, with basic professional liability insurance. The professional liability insurance of a member of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers does not exclude the possibility of his additional individual or other collective professional liability insurance.
What are the requirements for obtaining insurance? According to regulations a licensed architect must be insured against liability for damage (professional liability insurance).
How are insurance premiums calculated?The insurance sum (the maximum amount of compensation payable in the event of an insured event) that the Contractor is obliged to provide under the Contract shall not be less than
1) 20,000 EUR in dinar equivalent at the average exchange rate of the National Bank of Serbia on the day of payment, for entrepreneurs;
2) 65,000 EUR in dinar equivalent at the average exchange rate of the National Bank of Serbia on the date of payment, for companies, i.e. other legal entities.

What requirements must a European architect fulfill to practice in this country?
Architects and engineers from EU countries who are authorized to perform professional activities (license or registration in the register of the competent authority of their country) have the right to provide services in the Republic of Serbia for the activities for which they are authorized, under the conditions of reciprocity and if they meet the conditions set out in domestic regulations (in the field of planning and construction, and employment and work of foreigners), while based on the harmonization of domestic regulations with EU regulations, it is foreseen that the principles of recognition of professional qualifications as regulated by the EU Directive on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications (automatic and general system) will be applied from the date of accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union. Also, a foreign legal entity, i.e. an entrepreneur with a registered office in another country, has the right to provide services in the Republic of Serbia under the same conditions as legal entities and entrepreneurs with a registered office in the Republic of Serbia.
