ACE at the ECEC x ECCE Roundtable at the European Parliament

On Tuesday 21 April 2026, the European Council of Engineers Chambers, together with the European Council of Civil Engineers, hosted a roundtable event at the European Parliament in Brussels, focusing on affordable housing The event was organised by Croatian Member of the European Parliament Nikolina Brnjac and brought together key stakeholders from across the engineering and architectural sectors.

Among the participants, particular attention was given to the contribution of Daniel Fügenschuh, who took part in the discussions in his capacity as President of the Architects’ Council of Europe. His participation highlighted the essential role of architects in addressing Europe’s housing challenges and ensured that the architectural perspective was strongly represented in the dialogue.

Other participants from Austria included Klaus Thürriedl (ECEC Secretary General and Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Civil Engineers), Andreas Brandner (ECCE), and MEP Andreas Schieder.

The discussions emphasized that affordable housing remains one of Europe’s most pressing challenges, requiring coordinated and interdisciplinary action.

The exchange reinforced the importance of collaboration between engineers, architects, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to develop sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality housing solutions across Europe.
