Aims and scope
The aim of the Ukraine Task Force is to foster solidarity and practical support for Ukrainian architects, architecture, and citizens amid the ongoing war and reconstruction efforts. By advocating EU-level application of NEB principles to Ukraine’s reconstruction, organizing support, and facilitating partnerships, the TF ensures architecture contributes to resilient, hopeful futures aligned with European values and long-term societal recovery.
Policy focus in 2026
- Exchanging knowledge, experiences, and ideas on architecture’s role in war impacts and reconstruction.
- Connecting European and Ukrainian architects for collaboration.
- Linking experts to synthesize efficient, high-quality interventions supporting Ukrainian architects, architecture, and citizens.
- Highlighting and enhancing local European initiatives (e.g., national support programs) and international efforts (e.g., U-RE-HERIT, New European Bauhaus applications).
- Promoting quality architecture principles – safety, sustainability, heritage preservation, inclusivity, and cultural continuity – in all recovery phases.
