The ARCH-E Glossary

The ARCH-E Glossary brings together 11 country specific perspectives on architectural competition procedures in Europe. A total of 190 terms explain the regional characteristics of this linguistic landscape of competition culture. Because the language mutations are not mere translations, but original descriptions of the local practice in the subject areas, the terms can be compared with each other in the function below and examined for similarities and differences. This compendium currently contains around 1,000 definitions.

A comment function invites users to suggest changes to the definitions and practical reports on the topics, thus allowing the ARCH-E Glossary to grow continuously.

ARCH-E is a multifaceted project to be realized until 2026. As the project – its studies, the collaboration between the involved partners, know-how transfer with other cooperation partners and projects – evolves, also the online tools are refined constantly. For this reason the ARCH-E glossary is work in progress, return soon to explore more terms and even more extensive information on architectural design competitions (ADCs).
