What it Means to be an Architect Today?

The ACE President Luciano Lazzari appeared on Intelligent Glass Solution Magazine Autumn Issue with an article focused on the role of Architects in shaping the urban life of EU citizens.

The article draws a clear picture of the current situation in Europe, considered as global leader in the field of awareness and commitment to the need for energy saving, reduction of carbon emissions and research, thanks also to EU programs as Horizon 2020. Buildings are reaching standards of performance in terms of consumption that were unthinkable before and the global access of information has simplified the sharing of best practices and innovation.

Technological advances are driving costs down and standards up, new materials are available for making cities more sustainable and pleasant to live, for example enabling the re-population of city-centres by rehabilitating and renovating properties nowadays left empty and in decaying conditions.

With these premises, the role of the architect is becoming more and more  essential in coordinating the team that makes up the building process, since the profession becoming increasingly reliant on partners and consultants that provide technical information.
