Davos Baukultur Alliance Annual Meeting 2024

30.06.2024

The open programme of the Davos Baukultur Alliance Annual Meeting 2024 dealt with the theme "Shaping the Places of Tomorrow". The event took place at the World Economic Forum headquarters and Villa Mundi on the 18 June. This unique gathering brought together over 100 leaders from 25 countries, across 5 continents - including investment innovators, leaders in circular construction and materials, ministries of urban development, housing and culture, architects, social entrepreneurs, infrastructure designers, and more.

Swiss Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider and Geneva State Councillor Antonio Hodgers opened the event, followed by keynote speaker Indy Johar, founder of Alliance member Dark Matter Labs. As the main part of the day there were six discursive strategy sessions. The first day concluded with an inspiriting presentation by Dr Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg, a multidisciplinary artist.

“In Geneva, representatives from government ministries, international organisations, international NGOs and the business community came together to discuss the various aspects of high quality Baukultur and how to put it into practice. We realised that the values are described, the examples are there - it is possible - now the different sectors need to rethink the approaches. We all have a shared responsibility to shape our future” stated ACE President Ruth Schagemann.

The ACE President contributed to the 2024 Davos Baukultur Alliance Annual Meeting together with the ACE Vice-President, Carl Bäckstrand and the Member of the Executive Board, Daniel Fügenschuh. Ruta Leitanaite, Coordinator of the Task Force Ukraine and of the Creative Europe project "UREHERIT. Architects for Heritage in Ukraine" also took part in the Davos meeting.
