Short description

The REGENerative Design for the Built Environment aims to make regenerative design a practical, measurable, and scalable approach for construction and renovation across European neighbourhoods. Through five demonstration sites in Paris (FR), Sant Cugat del Vallès (ES), Fribourg (CH), Prague (CZ), and Uhre (DK), plus three replication sites, the project will test AI-enabled digital tools, bio-based and recycled materials, and co-design approaches involving over 1,000 citizens and 500 professionals.

The Architects´ Council of Europe’s involvement

The Architects’ Council of Europe will participate mainly in the Policy guidance and mainstreaming of regenerative design practices Work Package led by E2ARC. The work will focus on the co-design of three Policy Packages on regenerative design: Procurement and finance, Regulatory and Standards, and Governance and Participation, and the development and delivery of capacity-building programmes on regenerative design principles, policy implementation, and collaborative governance. ACE will also contribute to the Dissemination and Communication Work Package.

Expected project results

Key outputs include a Regenerative Evaluation Framework, the REDIP (the project´s digital platform), and three material innovations supporting nature-based solutions, heritage-compatible green roofs, and carbon capture. Other outputs include policy guidance, training programs, and open tools to accelerate regenerative transformation, creating more inclusive, climate-resilient, and inspiring neighbourhoods across Europe.
