IFLA Europe & ISHCCO: New signatories endorse the Luxembourg Declaration on Public Procurement

After the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE), the International Federation of
Landscape Architects Europe (IFLA Europe), and the International Safety and Health
Construction Coordinators Organisation (ISHCCO) have officially joined the growing list of
signatories to the Luxembourg Declaration on Public Procurement.

This Declaration was adopted during the high-level joint conference “Architects + Engineers:
Partnership for Resilient Design”, held on 15 May in Luxembourg. It was initiated by the
Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE), the Order of Architects and Consulting Engineers of
Luxembourg (OAI), the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA),
and the European Council of Engineers Chambers (ECEC). Together, these organisations
represent close to 1.5 million architects and consulting engineers across Europe.

IFLA Europe
IFLA Europe promotes the landscape architecture profession within a collaborative partnership
of the allied built-environment professions, demanding the highest standards of education,
training, research and professional practice, and providing leadership and stewardship in all
matters in Europe. It is the leading body promoting the creation of a sustainable and balanced
living environment from a landscape architectural perspective.

“IFLA Europe is fully supporting the Luxembourg declaration on Public Procurement.
We strongly believe in fostering quality in our professional services, not only for the built
environment but also for the living environment. Based on the New European Bauhaus,
we need to build a different culture for a more sustainable development for the
implementation of the New Green Deal. It is important to adopt a multidisciplinary
approach in order to address environmental and social challenges for a long term
resilient future, and to create places that promote social and economic well-being.”

ISHCCO
The International Safety and Health Construction Coordinators Organisation (ISHCCO) is a non-
profit organization founded in 2002, registered under Luxembourg legislation, representing
Safety and Health Construction Coordinators (SHCCs) through its national member
organizations. ISHCCO represents approximately 60,000 SHCCs. Our vision for ISHCCO is to
affirm our members’ professional identity and collaborate with occupational safety and health
(OSH) and construction professionals and institutions for a safer, healthier and sustainable
construction industry and infrastructure.

ISHCCO reaffirmed its full support for the Luxembourg Declaration, stating: “Integrating
occupational safety and health (OSH) into procurement is essential for delivering safe,
high-quality, and sustainable built environments and societies. Early consideration of
OSH ensures worker protection, cost-efficiency, and long-term social, environmental,
and economic benefits — fully aligned with the New European Bauhaus vision and the
European sustainable development goals.”
