Your additional / clarification notes on this section:Professional practis is an access requirement. Professional practise requirements are defined in the law. Practical periods completed during the master’s course or the last section of the diploma course, master’s course, university of applied sciences diploma course or university of applied sciences master’s course can be credited up to an amount of 12 months (no special practice according to § 6 Paragraph 2 Item 2 ZTG). In this case, the application for admission to the civil engineering examination must also be accompanied by the Bachelor’s degree. A practical period in a so-called service contract or as a ‘freelancer’ – that is, if no employment relationship was established at all – cannot be taken into account. Practice periods as ‘active limited partner’ or ‘active partner’ are also not recognized.

Section 7 – Market Access for Foreign Architects

In the case of cross-border provision of services / temporary registration, please provide a contact address for submitting applications / information:No registration required if the following requirements are fulfilled:
• Nationality of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland
• Authorisation to practice as an architect in an EU/EEA Member country or Switzerland and establishment in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland
• Formal professional qualification
• Practice as an authorized practising architect for at least two years during the last 10 years, if the profession is not regulated in the country where he/she is established.

The architect is obliged to supply the client with the following information:
• Register and identification number in this register
• Name and address of the responsible controlling authority in the country of establishment
• Professional body or similar organisation of which the architect/engineering consultant is part of
• Professional title / formal qualification
• UID Number
• Details about insurance protection concerning professional liability.
