The 2026 edition of the AMO Prize is now officially open for applications.

Since its creation in 1984, the AMO Prize has recognised a distinctive dimension of architectural practice: the quality of the relationship between the client and the architect. Rather than rewarding architects or commissioners independently, the prize celebrates collaboration, shared ambition and the dialogue that makes exemplary projects possible.

Supported by the French Ministry of Culture, MAF Assurance and the Caisse des Dépôts, the prize brings together leading actors from architecture, urban development and the built environment across France and Europe.

The AMO association itself unites architects and public and private clients around a common objective: promoting architectural quality as a driver for ecological, social and territorial transition.

A European Perspective

Architects and clients from across Europe are invited to apply, notably through the TransEuropArchi category, dedicated to cross-border Franco-European collaborations. The category rewards projects that embody shared expertise, cultural exchange and common European values such as sustainability, innovation and social responsibility.

For the 2026 edition, the AMO Prize is opening particularly towards four partner countries: Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

Six Categories

The 2026 AMO Prize includes six categories:

• The Most Beautiful Metamorphosis — conversion, rehabilitation and extension projects giving existing buildings a meaningful new life.
• The Most Audacious Construction — projects exploring biobased materials, reuse and innovative construction techniques.
• The Most Creative Typology — hybrid, reversible and inventive programmes responding to emerging societal needs.
• The Most Productive Place — workplaces and economic spaces balancing activity, well-being and environmental performance.
• The Best Urban or Rural Catalyst — projects contributing positively to neighbourhoods, territories and ecosystems.
• TransEuropArchi — the international category celebrating exemplary collaboration between French and European teams.

ACE President on the Jury

ACE is also pleased to announce that ACE President Daniel Fügenschuh will participate in the final jury of the 2026 AMO Prize, further reinforcing the European dimension of the initiative and ACE’s commitment to promoting architectural quality, collaboration and innovation across borders.
