The ARV Final Conference on 6–7 October 2026 in Trondheim, Norway, will mark the conclusion of five years of European collaboration focused on the development of climate-positive and circular communities.

With 36 partners from academia and industry, the ARV project has developed and tested approaches to reducing emissions and resource use through six large-scale demonstration projects. More than 50 innovations have been explored across energy efficiency, circular materials, digital tools, renewable energy, and planning and design.

The conference will present the results and lessons from these demonstrations, with a programme addressing circularity and the energy transition, the New European Bauhaus, large-scale retrofitting, digitalisation and industrialisation, and renewable energy. Together, these topics reflect some of the key challenges facing architects as the sector moves towards more resource-efficient and resilient ways of designing and transforming buildings and communities. The New European Bauhaus will provide a particular point of connection between environmental performance and architectural quality. Eva Álvarez, Co-Chair of the New European Bauhaus Working Group, and Greta Tresserra, Chair of the Sustainability Workgroup, are among the contributors, bringing architectural perspectives to discussions on Europe’s green transition.

For architects, the ARV demonstrations offer practical insight into how circular strategies, new technologies and energy solutions can be applied at scale. The conference will provide an opportunity to consider what these experiences mean for design approaches, renovation strategies and the future of architectural practice.
