European Commission open Consultations of Interest to Architects

The European Commission has launched several open consultations relevant to the architectural profession, to which ACE will contribute:

EU Public Procurement Rules – Revision (deadline: 26 January) Aimed at modernising and simplifying public procurement, strengthening its role as a strategic investment tool, and enhancing sustainability, competitiveness and flexibility. As architectural services are directly procured under these rules, the profession has a strong interest in this reform.

Skills Portability (deadline: 27 February) Part of the Commission’s impact assessment for the Skills Portability Initiative (Q3 2026), this consultation addresses barriers to the recognition and portability of skills. It provides an opportunity to highlight ongoing challenges faced by architects in cross-border practice.

Construction Services Act (deadline: 20 April) Contributing to the impact assessment of a proposed legislative initiative (Q4 2026), this consultation aims to facilitate the free movement of construction services to boost productivity and address housing supply shortages.

ACE responded to the Call for Evidence in December 2025 and is preparing a submission to this consultation.
