On 13 November 2025, the Architects\u2019 Council of Europe (ACE), together with the Czech Chamber of Architects (\u010cKA), held a public conference in Prague to reflect on current challenges and opportunities in delivering affordable, sustainable and high-quality housing across Europe. This event was co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACE President Carl B\u00e4ckstrand<\/strong> stressed the urgency of coordinated action: \u201cEurope\u2019s housing crisis calls for creativity, collaboration and courage. It\u2019s time to act\u2014housing is a human right and a foundation for social and environmental well-being. By combining high-quality architecture, impact-driven policies and collaborative approaches, we can create housing that truly meets people\u2019s needs while enriching Europe\u2019s built environment\u2014aligned with the European Green Deal and the New European Bauhaus”.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prague Declaration <\/strong>: ACE and Housing Europe unite for affordable & quality Housing for all<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference concluded with the adoption of the Prague Declaration<\/a>, a joint statement outlining four priorities for policymakers and stakeholders: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Renovation First: From Demolition to Reuse and Care <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Quality by Design: Housing that Enhances Well-Being <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Innovation and Digitalisation: Tools for Scalable, Sustainable Housing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
