ACE participated in the EESC expert hearing and the first meeting of the study group on implementing the New European Bauhaus (NEB), bringing together key voices including representatives from the European Commission and NCC Building Denmark.

As an early and active supporter of the NEB, ACE highlighted how the initiative is already shaping a high-quality, sustainable, and inclusive built environment at EU level. 

ACE key messages: 

-Embed NEB values in legislation – From Public Procurement to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, quality, sustainability, and design excellence must be anchored in EU and national frameworks. 

– Scale up good practices – Europe is rich in inspiring projects; the challenge is turning local success into systemic change through knowledge-sharing and tools like the NEB Hub. 

– Invest in skills and education – Delivering the NEB requires a new generation of professionals and decision-makers with interdisciplinary, future-oriented skills. 

– Measure and deliver quality – Tools such as the NEB Compass, Level(s), and the Davos Baukultur Quality System should be better aligned and widely used to make quality measurable and actionable. 

ACE Secretary General Dr. Katharina Erdmenger emphasised the need for long-term funding and strong national implementation to unlock the NEB’s full potential.
