On 23 July 2026, ACE President Daniel F\u00fcgenschuh<\/strong>, Vice President Elizabeth Gossart<\/strong>, Secretary General Katharina Erdmenger,<\/strong> and Senior Policy Officer Pierre Obajtek <\/strong>met with the European Commission\u2019s Task Force on Housing to discuss the pressing housing challenges facing Europe and the shared ambition to deliver affordable, sustainable, and high-quality homes for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on how Europe can tackle housing affordability, accelerate the renovation of the existing building stock, and ensure that future housing solutions foster healthy, inclusive, and resilient living environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACE underlined the vital role of architects in shaping housing policies that look beyond the provision of numbers alone. Addressing Europe\u2019s housing needs requires integrated approaches that bring together affordability, sustainability, architectural quality, social value, and long-term performance. Architects are essential partners in delivering Europe\u2019s housing, social, and climate objectives, using their expertise in design, renovation, and the transformation of the built environment to create places that respond to people\u2019s needs and contribute to a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACE remains committed to strengthening its cooperation with European institutions and looks forward to contributing to the development of the EU Affordable Housing Plan.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
