French architectural practice, they noted, benefits from strong cultural and historical foundations, as well as recognised technical expertise\u2014particularly in areas such as fire safety regulations and accessibility standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, speakers addressed the complexities of operating in different regulatory, cultural, and market environments. A key message emerged clearly: <strong>collaboration with local architects is essential<\/strong> to ensure context-sensitive design, smooth project delivery, and long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-from-design-to-lifecycle-thinking\">From design to lifecycle thinking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussions emphasised that successful international projects must go beyond design excellence. Considering the full lifecycle of buildings\u2014from construction to operation and maintenance\u2014is critical to delivering lasting value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working with local partners not only supports this lifecycle approach, but also strengthens knowledge exchange and fosters more resilient and adaptable solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-institutional-perspectives-and-the-role-of-ace\">Institutional perspectives and the role of ACE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From an institutional standpoint, valuable insights were shared by <strong>H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Lucie Fernandez, Deputy Director for Heritage and Architecture,<\/strong> and<strong> Christophe Millet, President of the Conseil national de l\u2019Ordre des architectes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion underlined several key priorities for the profession in Europe:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promoting the quality and value of architectural education, including international exchange<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advancing the <strong>mutual recognition of qualifications (MRA)<\/strong> to facilitate cross-border practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safeguarding <strong>architectural quality<\/strong> in an increasingly globalised market<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening the contribution of European institutions, including the European Parliament, in supporting the profession<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, the role of ACE remains central in advocating for high-quality architecture and enabling architects to work across borders while maintaining professional standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-continuing-the-conversation\">Continuing the conversation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop reaffirmed both the opportunities and the responsibilities associated with practising architecture internationally.
