With the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, the Architects\u2019 Council of Europe released in November 2024 the publication\u00a0\u201cThe Value Chain of Construction: How Can Architects Occupy A Larger Role?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Architects contribute to the construction value chain in diverse ways, with their expertise extending well beyond design alone. This new publication, developed by ACE\u2019s Internationalisation and New Business Models task force (IBM), outlines actionable strategies for architects across Europe to broaden their professional influence and take on expanded roles in the construction industry. It emphasises the need for architects to promote their broad-based skills to both the public and their peers. It encourages the profession to unite, reinforcing its relevance in shaping future cities that align with sustainability goals.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis new panorama should not be seen as a threat but as an opportunity to reinforce the fundamental work of architects and our commitment to a changing and evolving society. Architects must adeptly navigate these emerging professional fields, positioning themselves as coordinators of the entire construction process, as we are the professionals who control and oversee the entire life cycle of buildings and know the needs of builders, investors, users and society at large. To this end, to maintain our leading role in the process, it is essential to understand first the construction value chain as a whole, the different stakeholders involved and the interactions that arise between them in order to occupy a position of relevance with an integral vision of all the phases\u201d<\/strong> <\/em>highlighted Sergio Garc\u00eda-Gasco, Chair of the ACE IBM task force.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe spirit of the Bauhaus has rekindled in the European Union to put architecture in the place it deserves. This study works in the same direction, on the idea of enhancing and enlarging our role and influence in the construction of our cities and environments, and therefore, to contribute to a better future of our society.
