Professional Qualification Criteria:
No criteria have to be fulfilled by architects to be allowed to work as architects in Switzerland. In Switzerland, “Architect” is not a protected profession. With regards to public commissions, some of the Swiss Cantons have established a system of registration based on professional experience (REG).

Professional associations in this context, such as the SIA (Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects) fulfil the function of indicating professional quality and reliability. This is why, mentioning the professional degree together with the adherence to a professional association is particularly important for any Swiss architects.

Public Procurement procedures often refer to the Gatt/GPA rules with regard of proofs of professional qualification.
