The Architects\u2019 Council of Europe has released a new publication reflecting on more than 20 years of participation in European Union\u2013funded research and innovation projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through programmes such as Horizon Europe<\/strong>, LIFE,<\/strong> Creative Europe<\/strong>, Erasmus+<\/strong> and Interreg<\/strong>, ACE has contributed architectural expertise to projects addressing climate action, urban resilience, digitalisation, cultural heritage and social inclusion. Acting as both project partner and knowledge broker, ACE helps ensure that research outcomes support professional practice and inform European policymaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From climate positive communities to heritage preservation powered by digital tools, these initiatives confirm that innovation is a vital driver of architectural excellence \u2013 and that ACE\u2019s role in connecting research, policy and practice is indispensable to shaping the built environment Europe needs.\u201d <\/em>Dubravko Ba\u010dic<\/strong>, Past ACE Executive Board Member, Research & Development Coordinator<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The publication presents ACE\u2019s past and current project portfolio and highlights the added value of architectural knowledge in EU research initiatives. It also illustrates how early engagement in projects enables ACE to bring architectural perspectives into research design, methodologies and expected impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs we refine the sensitivity to contemporary issues of climate change, housing crises, pressures of migration, enormous man-made disasters, our response must be to keep articulating how our skills, knowledge and competence can utilise available resources to envision, design and make our space liveable, safe, with dignity, prosperity, inclusivity, pride, joy and identity.
