The European Council of Civil Engineers<\/a> (ECCE*) has officially joined the list of signatories of the Luxembourg Declaration on Public Procurement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Declaration, adopted at the high-level joint conference \u201cArchitects + Engineers: Partnership for Resilient Design\u201d<\/em> held on 15 May in Luxembourg, was initiated by the Architects\u2019 Council of Europe (ACE), the Order of Architects and Consulting Engineers of Luxembourg (OAI), the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA), and the European Council of Engineers Chambers (ECEC). Together, these organisations represent nearly 1.5 million architects and consulting engineers across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement of support, ECCE affirmed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe European Council of Civil Engineers fully supports the Luxembourg Declaration on Public Procurement. We join our partners in calling for a shift towards quality- and innovation-driven procurement, recognising the unique value of intellectual services. Only by prioritising design excellence, sustainability, quality, and long-term resilience over lowest-cost criteria can we truly serve the public interest and build a better and safer Europe.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Luxembourg Declaration reflects a shared commitment among Europe’s architectural and engineering communities to improve public procurement practices by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 Provide for better recognition of the specific nature of intellectual services <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 Ensure quality- and innovation oriented procurement procedures <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Improve access to procurement for SMEs and new entrants<\/p>\n\n\n\n
